Event - Children's Mental Health Week
3 February 2025
This week was children’s mental health week. The theme this year was ‘Know yourself, Grow yourself’ and the children enjoyed taking part in a variety of activities surrounding this theme.
As a school, we know that there is always someone to listen to us and that our feelings are valid. We also talked about how it is ok to feel how we want to but to remember that our feelings our temporary. Bad feelings will soon pass and we will feel good again.
We enjoyed a visit from Compass Birmingham and in our Assembly we practised different breathing strategies to help calm our emotions.
Back in our classes, children got a chance to talk about their feelings and also to create artwork to express these emotions. In EYFS they created beautiful flowers out of collage materials. In KS1, the children thought about what makes them happy and created a class happiness flower. In KS2, the children drew themselves as a plant, thinking about the roots that shape them and what makes them unique.
A wonderful week of mindfulness!
