Event - Year 2 visit the Buddhist Vihara

Year 2 visited a Buddhist temple in Birmingham to learn more about their Festivals and Celebrations topic.

We were greeted by a Buddhist monk who welcomed us into the temple and everyone took their shoes off to show respect.

The children learnt about the story of Buddha, who once was a prince and one day saw that there was suffering in the world and wanted to be enlightened. We walked around the temple and looked at the statues of Buddha.

Finally, the children joined hands in a circle and the monk explained that we are all connected: each person wished their neighbour happiness around the circle.
