Event - Year 5 Shang Dynasty Workshop

Year 5 had a visitor from the Shang Dynasty theatre company, where we took part in a range of activities about this fascinating time period.

The children performed many different drama sketches, embodying the roles of numerous people from the Shang period, ranging from the emperor all the way down to the lowly slave.

We discussed the importance of the hierarchy to Chinese society at the time, and discussed some of the artefacts that teach us about this, such as jade, weapons and tools.

We also created freeze frames of important cultural events, beliefs and architecture from the Shang era.
