Event - Year 5 Sutton Park Orienteering

Year 5 went on a trip to enrich their topic of Sutton Park.

They went to the visitor centre, where they met Ranger Matthew. He set them on a mission to find locations in the park using their map skills.

The children were split up into teams and chose their own team names. They were given a map with a location to find, and had to use their knowledge of maps and keys to identify symbols and work out where there were paths, grassland and forests to find the locations.

At each location there was a multiple choice question relating to the park and a task that they had to accomplish on our return to Matthew. The children were excellent map readers and managed to find all the locations in record time.

What a brilliant, Geography-filled trip!
